Relish Press release: September 8, 2025 Relish Shokudo in Oyamazaki, Kyoto, has relocated and reopened. It will reopen in October with the addition of the Relish Grocery Store, which offers seasonings, organic foods, and organic vegetables. The restaurant has relocated and reopened, just a one-minute walk from the Relish flagship store. The new store will also feature the Relish Grocery Store, which offers organic foods, marking a new step forward as a food hub that supports everyday life. An organic restaurant run by the cooking school at Relish (49 Ryuko, Oyamazaki, Oyamazaki-cho, Otokuni-gun, Kyoto Prefecture) takes on a new challenge in its seventh year.

(Organizer: Mori Kaoru) We want to share the “everyday ideas” and “seasonal kitchen techniques” learned in Relish’s cooking classes in the form of a restaurant and grocery store. With this in mind, our staff has come together to take on this new challenge, never forgetting our original intentions.

Our miso soup is simply prepared with plenty of fresh vegetables from nearby farmers and meat or fish, using carefully selected seasonings, primarily traditional Japanese fermented foods. We also serve breakfast (9:00-10:30) on the first or second Saturday of each month. This will also continue at the new store. Every Saturday, we hold the “Yamazaki Bio Marche” in the garden of the Relish main store as an everyday morning market. We started this event with the idea that people would get up a little earlier on the weekend, enjoy shopping for fresh vegetables, and then come and join us. The schedule is posted on Instagram.

Our current store (20-14 Kagamida, Oyamazaki-cho) is scheduled to remain open until the end of September 2025. Due to expected congestion during the relocation, we recommend making a reservation in advance. (Phone or online) Until now, we’ve mainly sold the condiments used that month in the cafeteria, but we’ve stepped up our game and expanded our selection as a grocery store, selling them all the time.

cafeteria’s popular fruit drink. We also plan to sell organic vegetables and other products. The large chalkboard inside the restaurant, a specialty of ours, will also be featured somewhere in the new restaurant. Although we are a cafeteria, we are currently publishing recipes with the hope that our customers will cherish “home-cooked meals.”
