“Castle EXPO in “Hizen Nagoya Castle” collaborates with the “5th Nagoya Castle Grand Tea Ceremony” “Nagoya Castle Grand Tea Ceremony” and “Castle EXPO” collaborate! “Castle EXPO” is a festival for castle fans that has been held since 2016 with the aim of promoting and developing castle culture and providing a place for castle enthusiasts to interact with each other. This year’s “On-Site Castle EXPO in Hizen Nagoya Castle” (organized by Saga Prefecture and Karatsu City) will be held in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Nagoya Castle (Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture) being designated a Special Historic Site, a little earlier than the “Castle EXPO 2025” (organizer: Tetsuo Owada), which will be held at Pacifico Yokohama in December. Nagoya Castle was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and was the site of the gathering of around 150 warlords from around the country, including Tokugawa Ieyasu and Date Masamune. In order to recreate the excitement of those days, the event will be held in collaboration with the Nagoya Castle Grand Tea Ceremony, which is packed with fun cultural experiences such as tea ceremony, Noh, tableware, food, and falconry. Enjoy a variety of events, including specialist lectures and Golden Tea House experience programs.

On Sunday, November 23rd, the “Castle EXPO Tourist Information Zone” will be held, featuring castle booths from warlords who gathered in Nagoya, including Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Tokugawa Ieyasu, Maeda Toshiie, and Kato Kiyomasa. You can also enjoy the flavors of Nagoya, including Karatsu cuisine and cuisine associated with warlords, at the “Nagoya Castle Marche”! You can also enjoy cultural experiences such as tea tasting, Noh, Kyogen, and tea in a golden tea room. Additionally, there will be talk shows and lectures by castle specialists, including actor Hideki Takahashi, who is known for his love of castles, to analyze the value of Nagoya Castle. On Monday, November 24th (national holiday), there will be the “Nagoya Castle Premium Forum,” featuring four popular scholars, and a special tea room experience in the “Thatched Tea House,” a restored version of Hideyoshi’s tea room!
