She tries to take a moment to relax with some high-end chocolate she’s hidden in the fridge, but at that moment, her son, Roku, quickly finds her and asks, “What are you doing, Mom?” Yes, Mama Imoto’s relaxation is truly a mission. In a scene where she secretly asks her dad to buy her some ice cream, she secretly says, “Buy me some ice cream, get me some ice cream,” but Roku-chan immediately sees through her and asks, “Ice cream?” When she’s grinding away at her stiff shoulders with the wheels of a toy car, he immediately confiscates them, saying, “Mom, give that back!” When she tries to sneak a load of manga into the bathroom, he immediately finds out, asking, “Mom, where are you going?” She also sneaks out of bed like a ninja in the middle of the night to devote herself to her favorite idol, but it only lasts a few minutes. These are the struggles and relaxation missions of Imoto Mama, depicted alongside her charming interactions with the adorable Roku-chan. Even when you try to take a breather, things often don’t go as planned. The boy selected through auditions to play Imoto’s child, Roku-chan, seemed a little nervous at the beginning of filming, but after acting alongside Imoto several times, he gradually relaxed and became more comfortable with his performance. Imoto, who is actually a mother with a son close to Roku-chan’s age, was incredibly accommodating, not only during filming but also during breaks, quickly closing the gap between them and becoming good friends with him. When filming scenes with different lines or acting, it was as if we were watching Imoto interacting with her child as a mother, saying things like, “Shall we try this?” or “Why don’t you try this more?” During a scene where he had to act with a toy, Roku-chan was allowed to choose any toy from the props. He chose a large stuffed dinosaur without hesitation and refused to let go. Seeing this, the cast and staff were all warmed by his heart. After filming ended, Roku-chan seemed reluctant to leave. He exchanged high-fives with Imoto-san and the actors playing his father, and everyone saw him off as he was taken home by his mother, looking on as Imoto-san and the filming crew remained. ■Interview with Imoto –Please tell us your impressions of the shoot. First of all, Roku-chan, who plays the son, is adorable. He really soothed me. He’s close in age to my own son, so while filming, I imagined what he’d be like in a year and a half. Since we filmed in an actual home, I was able to relax and enjoy delicious coffee while filming. It felt close to my everyday life. –Please tell us your secret to taking a break (mission) between childcare responsibilities. I’ve been hooked on public baths lately. Traveling is quite difficult, but whenever I have a chance, I try to go to a nearby public bath or one a little further away. Sometimes I just pop in a little before picking up my child and splash in within an hour. –That sounds like a mission (laughs) –In reference to the “Just Break Craft Boss Cafe” being characterized by its ability to be customized to your liking, please tell us how you customize it in your own way. I arranged my car so that I could sleep in it. I only go camping once or twice a year, but for those little moments in my daily life, I make a table so I can quickly go to the riverbank and buy coffee or other things and drink them, and I’ve also arranged the back of the car so that it can be used as a bed or a sofa. –Have you ever had any unusual parenting experiences? When my child was a few months old, he wouldn’t sleep, and I couldn’t sleep either. I was so sleep-deprived that I found myself throwing my phone in the trash. (lol) He was making a big fuss about losing his phone, and even when I tried calling my number from another phone, I couldn’t hear anything. I couldn’t believe it, so I opened the trash can and rummaged around, and found my phone at the bottom. It must have been something serious for him to throw away his phone. It was scary. –My thoughts on “Just Break Craft Boss Cafe” I love coffee, so this was delicious. I made it quite strong, but I really like bitter things, so it hit me hard and was delicious. The ability to adjust the amount is great. If you want to be more energetic, you can add more, or if you want to tone it down a bit, you can add more milk. It’s great to be able to customize it however you like. As a coffee lover, I found the bitterness to be incredibly delicious.
