“Fortune-telling-related Episode Survey” among marouge users in their teens to forties on their easily enjoyable fortune-telling platform, “marouge (pronounced: marouge https://marouge.jp/ ),” in celebration of World Fortune-Telling Day on September 9th. Since launching “Getters Iida’s Fortune Telling” in 2012, CAM has been providing a variety of digital fortune-telling services for over 10 years. When asked, “When do you consult your fortune teller?” 53.1% of respondents answered, “Checking my fortune every day.” It appears that checking your fortune every day is becoming a habit. Furthermore, when looking at the results by generation, the most common answer for people in their teens and twenties was “when I’m having trouble with my romantic relationship,” while a higher percentage of people in their forties used the service “when I’m having trouble with work or changing jobs.”

Next, 41.1% of respondents answered “shrines and fortune-telling slips,” demonstrating that experiential
fortune-telling remains popular.

When asked, “What made you become interested in fortune-telling?”, the most common answer at 36.5% was “When I was worried about love or relationships,” followed closely by “I enjoyed the fortune-telling pages in magazines and books.” When looking at the results by age group, a high percentage of people in their teens and twenties became interested in fortune-telling due to “concerns about love and relationships,” while people in their thirties and forties seemed to become interested in fortune-telling after accidentally coming across it on a morning TV show or in a magazine or book.
