Press Release: September 9, 2025 Our playground equipment “The House” will be featured in the first large-scale solo exhibition of contemporary artist Yuichi Hirako, held at Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art. The “Yuichi Hirako Exhibition: ORIGIN,” a collaborative project with the Setouchi Triennale Museum of Art, with special cooperation from Jakuetsu Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tsuruga City, Fukui Prefecture / President and CEO: Tatsuro Tokumoto), will be held at the Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art from Tuesday, September 16, 2025 to Sunday, November 9, 2025.

(Korea/2023), and Nagi Museum of Contemporary Art (Okayama/2024), and has expanded his international scope of work, including works for the permanent exhibition at Okayama Art Creation Theater HALENOVA, which opened in Okayama City in 2023, and window displays for Hermes Landmark Prince’s (Hong Kong). This exhibition marks Hirako’s first large-scale solo exhibition in his hometown of Okayama Prefecture. Making the most of the museum’s architecture, the exhibition space will be dynamic and unfold on an unprecedented scale, encompassing not only the exhibition rooms but also the indoor plaza and courtyard. Additionally, visitors will be able to see “The House,” a playground equipment created under the supervision of our company and Hirako, which raises awareness of the coexistence of nature and humans.

He graduated from Wimbledon College of Art in the UK with a degree in painting in 2006. His work explores the coexistence of humans with plants and nature, as well as the ambiguities and questions that arise in this relationship. Inspired by his discomfort with the definition of “nature” as referring to plants controlled by humans, such as ornamental plants, street trees, and plants planted in parks, he explores the boundaries between nature and humans in modern society through his artwork. His expressive methods are diverse, including painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, and sound performance. He actively exhibits his work overseas, including in South Korea, Taiwan, the UK, and the US.
