I was surprised at how light and comfortable they were. They fit so well that I almost forgot I was wearing shoes, and they were so comfortable. Q: YONGI means “courage” in Korean. Has anything happened recently that gave you courage? I’m always inspired by everyone who supports the show. The messages and letters I receive give me strength. Q: Due to the nature of your job, you must sometimes inspire and encourage those around you. Is there anything you are conscious of or pay attention to when working? It becomes painful when I try to give something to those around me, so I first have to enjoy myself. I also believe that it’s all about doing each job carefully, honestly, and with integrity. 【PROWL】 Q: What were your impressions when you first tried on hands-free shoes? It’s truly hands-free. I didn’t have to use my hands at all, and my feet just slipped in easily and smoothly. I thought it was really convenient. Q: When do you wear “PROWL” in your daily life? I love traveling and often go far away, so it’s convenient for me to take off and put on my shoes. They’re great for when you’re on an airplane or bullet train, when you want to change into slippers, or when you just want to relax your feet a little. They’re also great for when you’re visiting someone’s home or shop during work (or on location), and you can easily take them off and put them back on. Q: The “PROWL” series is specifically designed for women. Starting with BALLET, it has evolved into EASE IN and IN HEEL. What did you think of them after trying them on? I think it’s important that it’s
comfortable and easy to wear, but it’s also important that it makes you look slimmer and your legs look longer. I think it’s great that it achieves both of those things. It looks like it would be useful for both work and personal use. Q: The series is evolving. How do you want to grow in the future, Uga-san? Please tell us what you would like to challenge yourself with in your personal life and how you plan to expand the scope of your work. There are still so many things I want to try. I recently tried surfing for the first time, and it was so much fun. I’ve realized that you can start any number of new things. My current interests include horseback riding, tennis, and
calligraphy. I’d like to try again the things I did as a student but didn’t do properly, and the things I still have left undone. As for my work, I really love my job as an announcer, so rather than broadening my horizons, I want to focus on each job carefully. I believe that will lead to my next growth. ■Profile
