Profile Taiki Matsumoto Matsumoto He began playing the piano at the age of 6 and studied classical guitar under Masanobu Nishigaki from the age of 16. In 2008, he graduated from the Nice Conservatory’s guitar department with honors, receiving a special unanimous special commendation from the judges. He graduated from the Paris Conservatoire’s bachelor’s course in guitar with honors as a scholarship recipient from the Rohm Music Foundation, a public interest incorporated foundation. He has won third place at the Coria International Guitar Competition in Spain, as well as prizes at the Guitar Gem International Competition (Israel), the Robert Vidal International Guitar Competition (France), and the Viseu International Guitar Competition (Portugal). He received the Shiga Prefecture Next Generation Cultural Award, established in 2011. In 2013, he was invited to the Jorndas International Guitar Festival in Valencia, Spain, where he gave a recital and served as a judge for the youth division of the inaugural Alhambra International Guitar Competition. While continuing his performance activities both in Japan and abroad, he is also committed to education, and has taught at the Francis Poulenc Conservatory in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, the La Verrierre Municipal Conservatory, and the Sarcelle Municipal Conservatory since 2010. In 2021, he appeared as “Guitarist of the Season” at the 15th Hakuju Guitar Festa.
