Instead of standard distance displays, these unique displays “feel distance on a cosmic scale,” allowing visitors to experience the scale of nature and the universe while walking through the city. “Space Crossing Heaven” What is “SAGAMIHARA”? “Space Crossing Heaven” is a space-themed multi-purpose project being developed in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, home to the JAXA Sagamihara Campus, in full collaboration with JAXA. The project aims to widely promote Sagamihara City’s appeal as a “city where space feels close” and reach as many people as possible. This project was launched in July 2025, when the Sagamihara City Museum’s planetarium will be renovated into the world’s first planetarium to combine 1 billion stars with 8K video. In October, a real-life event will be held at the Sagamihara City Museum and the JAXA Sagamihara Campus Communication Building, featuring a variety of experiential content, including space-themed exhibits and sales, art exhibits, space-themed gourmet food, and live performances by artists. Through in-person events catering to diverse generations and tastes, we will create a space where anyone, regardless of specialized knowledge, can encounter and connect with the universe. These two special days will span science, art, food, and entertainment, transcending generations and interests, allowing people to experience “experiencing the universe in their daily lives.” “Space Crossing Heaven SAGAMIHARA” Event Overview Event name: Space Crossing Heaven SAGAMIHARA Venue: Sagamihara City Museum (3-1-15 Takane, Chuo-ku, Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture) JAXA Sagamihara Campus (3-1-1 Yunodai, Chuo-ku, Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture) Dates: Saturday, October 11th and Sunday, October 12th, 2025, 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM *Program times vary by program ● Space Creators Market Date: Both days Venue: Sagamihara City Museum, 1st floor, Special Exhibition Room ● Planetarium LIVE Date: Sunday, October 12th only Venue: Sagamihara City Museum Planetarium Time: Sunday, October 12th, 12:30-1:15 PM (scheduled) (Doors open at 12:00 PM) / Free admission, advance registration required ● Planetarium Screening Date: Sunday, October 12th only Venue: Sagamihara City Museum Planetarium Time: 1. 14:30-15:00 (Doors open at 14:20) 2. 16:00-16:30 (Doors open at 15:50) / Free admission ● Space Gourmet – Everyone’s Space Space Date: Both days Venue: Sagamihara City Museum outdoor area, coffee shop, JAXA Sagamihara Campus ● Space Art Exhibition Dates: October 12th (Sun) – Mid-November 11:00 – 17:00 (last entry 16:45) Venue: JAXA Sagamihara Campus Communication Building Space
