Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. Hakutsuru Museum of Art 2025 Autumn Exhibition
Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. Press Release: September 12, 2025 Hakutsuru Museum of Art 2025 Autumn Exhibition to be held From Tuesday, September 23, 2025 (national holiday) to Sunday, December 7, 2025 The Hakutsuru Museum of Art, a public interest incorporated foundation (Kobe City, opened in 1934), will hold its autumn exhibition starting on Tuesday, September 23rd (national holiday). The new wing opened in October 1995 as an exhibition facility primarily housing a carpet collection donated by Hideo Kano (1934-2010, the 10th president of Hakutsuru Sake Brewery), the museum’s fourth director. Due to the impact of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake that occurred in January of the same year, the opening was delayed by seven months, but it also served as an exhibition commemorating the museum’s reconstruction. This fall marks the 30th anniversary of the opening of the new building. In addition to the fine Middle Eastern carpets that have been in the collection since its inception, we will also be exhibiting for the first time some of the carpets from Khotan (China) and Mughal (India) that have been donated over the past 30 years. The main building will feature an exhibition of Chinese ceramics from our collection. Please enjoy the world of motifs filled with celebration, such as lotus leaves and pomegranates that represent prosperity, peonies that represent wealth, pine trees that symbolize longevity, and phoenixes and kirins that are signs of good fortune. Starting with just 500 antique artworks, the museum now houses over 1,450 pieces, including two National Treasures (75 pieces) and 22 Important Cultural Properties (39 pieces). Having overcome numerous hardships, including war, air raids, and major earthquakes, the museum has managed to preserve its collection of valuable antique artworks to this day.
