The studio was in an uproar over the press conference’s series of shocking statements that couldn’t have been made five years ago: “This is a hit!” “It’s going to change the future!” On episode 329, broadcast on Sunday, September 14th, we delivered a special segment, “Let’s Re-Do Watanabe’s Apology Press Conference: He Wasn’t Yet Forgiven.” Watanabe Ken of the comedy duo Unjash traveled back in time five years to attempt a new “apology press conference.” Former AKB48 member and talent Yuki Kashiwagi appeared as a guest in the studio, with comedian Toshiyuki Itakura of the comedy duo Impulse and solo comedian Minamikawa also participating as witnesses. Following Watanabe’s “wife”‘s statement on a terrestrial television special that she “has not yet forgiven him,” an emergency plan was put into place to hold the “apology press conference” again and overwrite past memories and records.

As Chidori and other observers watched from the studio, Watanabe appeared at the press conference with a serious expression on his face. However, on his first and second attempts, he messed up his lines and burst out laughing uncontrollably, forcing the show to end. On his third attempt, he managed to contain his laughter at the constant barrage of comments from the studio, but he just kept apologizing, prompting Daigo to lament, “This is just like five years ago.” So, for his next attempt, Daigo advised him to “just protect yourself and put the agency in a bad light,” and when asked about breakfast, “tell me the name of the most delicious dish you’ve ever eaten.” On his fourth attempt, in response to a reporter’s question, “Why hold a press conference now, six months after the scandal?” he replied, “I wanted to hold one right away, but the agency president said it was not okay,” to which Nobu laughed and said, “This guy is the worst.” In response to the question, “What did you have for breakfast?” Watanabe chatted about gourmet information, saying, “Chateaubriand beef cutlet sandwich.” “I had sushi for lunch, but I had three thinly sliced abalone stacked on top of each other and ate caviar and sea urchin nigiri on top.” “The thinner you slice the abalone, the more texture it has when you stack it.” The studio was excited, with everyone saying, “He’s eating some really good food.”

time-leaped again, and Itakura advised him, “I want you to give the impression that you’re not satisfied with what Kojima says to you,” and he set off for his fifth attempt. When asked, “What did Kojima say to you?” Watanabe replied, “He told me I should reevaluate my humanity from scratch and that I was getting too cocky. But I think he’s annoying,” eliciting laughter from the entire studio. Watanabe then added, “I may have caused him trouble, but I still think he’s annoying,” prompting comments like, “That’s funny,” and “Your future will change.” It seemed like he’d finally succeeded this time, but when asked about “returning to work,” he once again gave vague answers. Then, as Watanabe time-leaped again, Daigo advised him, “At the time, I couldn’t say anything because I didn’t want to cause trouble, but you can change that now. If you want to return now, you should tell him why you really want to return to a show.” Image

He boasted, “I definitely want to return to ‘King’s Brunch’ and ‘FNS Music Festival.'” “Those are the programs I originally did, so I definitely want to return to those two.” While the studio erupted in excitement, exclaiming, “That’s cool,” he was also asked, “How do you honestly feel about your fans?” He confidently replied, “If I’m going to stop being a fan now, that’s it.” When asked about his feelings toward high school baseball and the businesses he’s worked with, Watanabe simply replied, “This is what happened,” which made Chidori burst into laughter even more. Finally, a reporter asked Watanabe a riddle: “What’s the link between this current turmoil and the Shinkansen? The answer is ‘The Nozomi is the best.'” Watanabe’s face briefly showed confusion, but he delivered a powerful riddle, saying, “The link between this current turmoil and the Shinkansen is ‘The Nozomi is the best.'” The studio erupted in praise, with shouts of “Amazing!” After completing the challenge, the studio members expressed their satisfaction, saying, “This has changed 2025,” and “This is legendary.” Watanabe, however, expressed his concerns, saying, “This isn’t going to work,” and “Maybe (a full comeback) is now a long way off.” While Daigo encouraged Watanabe to “watch it with your wife,” Nobu commented, “I’ll probably be back on ‘Brunch,'” to which Watanabe responded with a wry smile, “I’m so sorry for all the trouble I’ve caused you. I was just being mean.” The broadcast in which Watanabe attempted an unprecedented “replay of the apology press conference” will be available for free viewing for seven days after broadcast.
