This approximately one-hour concert is held every Christmas season, allowing you to enjoy the sounds of Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall’s pipe organ, “Lucy.” This year, the internationally acclaimed Oxford Merton College Choir and organist François Clotho from Oxford, England, are visiting Japan. They will bring you British Christmas music. The first half of the program will feature repertoire such as masses, original choir pieces, and organ solos. The second half will feature familiar Christmas songs such as “O Holy Night” and “Silent Night,” filling Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall with beautiful and solemn sounds. 1. British Christmas Music for Pipe Organ and Choir Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall’s “Christmas Pipe Organ Concert” began in 2006. Some years, you can enjoy the diverse sounds of the pipe organ, which has been described as a “one-man orchestra,” while other years it collaborates with other instruments. This year, we’ll be featuring a choir and organist from the UK. This is the first time in 12 years that this concert series has invited performers from overseas. Enjoy a Christmas concert filled with the exotic atmosphere of a British Christmas music program centered around traditional Christmas hymns. 2. A choir and organist who perform together daily in Oxford are visiting Japan
