Divided into three themes—”The Science of Color,” “The Symbolism of Color,” and “The Power of Light”—this exhibition features iconic pieces such as the legendary “Seven Wonders” emerald necklace, bold 1960s sautoirs, and pioneering designs by Sotirio Bulgari, as well as new art pieces by contemporary artists Lara Favaretto, Mariko Mori, and Akiko Nakayama. The gala dinner, held in the National Art Center, Tokyo’s magnificent atrium, offered guests a sophisticated experience against the backdrop of the museum’s soaring architecture, enhanced by the music of composer and pianist Roberto Cacciapaglia and the captivating voice of vocalist Shiona Ogawa. Prior to the gala dinner, a morning press conference was held, attended by Bvlgari Group CEO Jean-Christophe Babin, Bvlgari Heritage Curator Director Ghislain Aucclemanne, National Art Center, Tokyo Chief Researcher Ayako Miyajima, SANAA architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, contemporary artist Mariko Mori, and National Art Center, Tokyo Director Eriko Osaka. They discussed the concept of Bvlgari Kaleidos from their diverse perspectives. This exhibition is a journey through masterpieces that reflect Bvlgari’s more than a century of chromatic excellence and deep respect for cultural heritage. This dialogue explores the strong creative and emotional ties that connect Italy and Japan, and the role of color as a universal language of innovation, identity, and craftsmanship. During the exhibition, the richly designed catalog, “Bvlgari Kaleidos: Color, Culture, Craft,” will be available exclusively in the accompanying gift shop, which has been specially personalized by Bvlgari. Featuring essays by curators and architects, striking photography, and four different covers showcasing highlights from the Bvlgari Heritage Collection, this catalog is a valuable collector’s item in itself. The Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo is also participating in this monumental exhibition with a special project in dialogue with the exhibition. Contemporary artist Akiko Nakayama has created an immersive installation in the elevator of the Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo. Ascending time from the ground floor to the hotel lobby on the 40th floor, the installation acts as a small museum suspended between earth and sky, showcasing four video works themed on the view above. Additionally, the 40th floor gallery will host a limited-time exhibition featuring carefully selected works from the Bvlgari Heritage Collection and precious private collections. Additionally, Bvlgari Dolci, located on the same floor, is selling five limited edition chocolate gems created by Gianluca Justo, master chocolatier at Bvlgari Il Cioccolato, to commemorate the exhibition.
