The “Senior Cultural Art Exhibition,” showcasing calligraphy, paintings, photography, and other creative works created by seniors, is being held at Gunge Healthy Terrace (Takatsuki City Gunge Senior Citizens Welfare Center) until Saturday, September 20, 2025. Approximately 400 masterpieces created by seniors are on display. This exhibition has been held annually since 1972, coinciding with Senior Citizens’ Month in September, to showcase works created by seniors as hobbies, promote the joy of creativity, and foster communication among seniors, thereby improving their sense of purpose in life. This year, the exhibition features approximately 400 works across a variety of genres, including calligraphy, pottery, painting, photography, haiku, and handicrafts, created by city residents aged 60 and over. On the first day of the event, Wednesday, September 17th, many visitors came to enjoy the works, saying things like, “All the works were so impressive and wonderful. I’d like to take up a new hobby,” and “I even submitted a work of my own. Creating art has become my purpose in life.” [Exhibition overview] Event period: Until Saturday, September 20, 2020 Hours: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM (until noon on Saturday, September 20th) Location: Gunge Sukoyaka Terrace (48-6 Gunge Shinmachi, Takatsuki City) Admission: Free Content: Exhibition of calligraphy, pottery, paintings, photography, haiku, handicrafts, and more created by senior citizens.
