Michael Jackson’s choreographer, Travis Payne, auditioned and selected the members. The group was named “Travis Japan” in honor of Travis Payne. After changes in members, the current seven-member group has been active since 2017. Starting in March 2022, they will study abroad in Los Angeles, USA to improve their skills. During their study abroad, they appeared on the “World of Dance Championship Series” and “America’s Got Talent,” which led to their worldwide debut on Friday, October 28th with “JUST DANCE!” from Capitol Records. This is the first time a Japanese artist has had their debut song chart at No. 5 on the Billboard Global (excluding US) chart (as of November 12th). Three songs simultaneously ranked in the top 10 of the Oricon Weekly Digital Singles Ranking (as of November 7th)! Starting on January 28, 2023, Travis embarked on his first tour since his debut, “Travis Japan Debut Concert Tour 2023 THE SHOW ~Tadaima, Okaeri~,” with a total of 23 performances in five cities across the country, attracting an audience of 230,000. Their second single, “Moving Pieces,” written by Poo Bear, a music producer who has written for artists like Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran, and their next single, “Candy Kiss,” were both smash hits. Their first music CD, their first album, “Road to A,” will be released on Wednesday, December 20th. It ranked first in the Oricon Weekly Combined Album Rankings for Weekly Album, Weekly Digital Album, and Weekly Combined Album, and also ranked first on the Billboard Charts JAPAN Hot Albums, Download Albums, Top Albums Sales, and Artist 100. From January 4, 2024, to May 12, 2024, Travis embarked on the arena tour [Travis Japan Concert Tour 2024 Road to Authenticity], with 29 performances at eight locations across the country, attracting approximately 310,000 people. “T.G.I. Friday Night,” released on March 18, 2024, ranked first and second in both the Japanese and English versions of Oricon’s weekly digital single (single song) rankings (as of April 1st), and also reached first place on Billboard JAPAN Download Songs and second place on the HOT100. “Sweetest Tune,” released on June 10, debuted at No. 1 on Oricon’s weekly digital singles rankings on June 24, with 51,000 downloads (50,706 downloads) in its first week. This marks his fifth digital single to reach No. 1 overall. Travis Japan Concert Tour 2024 “Road to Authenticity,” released on August 14, also ranked No. 1 in three video categories (according to Oricon as of August 26). Kicking off with a performance in Taipei on September 3rd, he embarked on his first-ever world tour, “Travis Japan World Tour 2024 Road to A,” visiting six cities around the world (Taipei, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Seattle, LA, and NY), which sold out. In December, he released his second album, “VIIsual,” and in January 2025, he embarked on the arena tour “Travis Japan Concert Tour 2025 VIIsual,” performing 28 shows in eight cities across Japan. On March 5th, they released their first CD single, “Say I do / Tokyo Crazy Night,” which reached number one on the Billboard JAPAN HOT100 and also reached number one on the Oricon weekly, digital, and combined charts. On April 28th, they digitally released “Would You Like One?”, the theme song for the film “Tabekko Doubutsu THE MOVIE.” It reached number one on the Oricon weekly digital singles (single track) charts on May 12th. He sang the Japanese version of the ending song “Burning Love” for the Disney live-action film “Lilo & Stitch,” which was released on June 6th.
