Discover unique artworks while soothing yourself with cats and delicious food! Open the door to this traditional Japanese house and you’ll find a peaceful, soothing space where you can not only admire the cat artwork, but also enjoy a relaxing meal while gazing at the Japanese garden and the cats. In addition to a healthy lunch, we also offer Japanese sweets from the renowned shop “Shizuku.” Come and spend a relaxing time, soothing both your body and mind. At the “CATS WELCARE Abeno Shelter Room” on the second floor, our affectionate cats await your visit. You can quietly gaze upon them, play with them, or even give them treats to make them popular. Organization overview and activity background The nonprofit organization CATS WELCARE was founded in Osaka City in 2019 as a voluntary organization and later became an NPO in 2023. Its main activities are to provide a safe home for cats that cannot be rescued and to help them find happy homes through rescue and adoption activities. We work every day to rescue cats from overcrowded homes, protect cats left behind when elderly people are hospitalized, and protect stray cats that are persecuted in the community. Through these ongoing activities, we have found new homes for over 300 cats to date. However, requests for protection continue to come in, and in fact, the number is increasing year by year. In recent years, awareness of the terms “shelter cats” and “shelter cat cafes” has increased due to the influence of the media, but the image of them as “special places visited only by a select few with a specific purpose” remains deeply rooted, and they are not yet fully accepted as places that anyone can casually drop in to. In light of this situation, we opened a new concept cat shelter, “Holy House,” in April 2025, with the aim of helping as many people as possible learn about rescue cats, become interested in them, and adopt them into their homes. We hope to host various events here and have many people use the facility in various ways, so that people can feel closer to the rescued cats.
