Press Release: September 19, 2025 [MEET YOUR ART FESTIVAL 2025: Cross-cultural experiences of music and art, and crafts and art – a four-day canal experience has been announced! Artistic director Mirai Moriyama will be participating in the exhibition alongside Seigo Matsuoka. A special exhibition where Japanese culture and contemporary art intersect, as well as a four-day musician lineup, have also been announced. MEET YOUR ART FESTIVAL Executive Committee (Constituent Organizations: Avex Creator Agency Inc., Area Management TENNOZ General Incorporated Association, General Incorporated Association The Tennozu Canalside Revitalization Association and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will hold one of Japan’s largest art festivals, “MEET YOUR ART FESTIVAL 2025” (hereinafter referred to as MYAF 2025), from Friday, October 10th to Monday, October 13th, 2025 (national holiday). Ahead of the Rediscovery, an art exhibition directed by Mirai Moriyama, will present a new, reconstructed version of works created in collaboration between Moriyama and editorial engineer Seigo Matsuoka in their later years. Additionally, the art fair “MEET YOUR ARTISTS” will feature a special event focusing on Japanese aesthetics, “Connecting Everyday Life with Harmony,” as well as an exhibition of Japanese swords by contemporary swordsmiths and a craft project by contemporary Bizen ware artists. Furthermore, there will be a number of art experiences that fit into lifestyles, including an installation by Face Oka and Scalp D on the theme of “Art in the Bathroom,” an oak forest scent experience space by BAUM, and tea and gelato provided by Kyoto-based “7T .” A program that engages the five senses and spans art and culture will unfold along the Tennozu Canal. ART EXHIBITION “Ahead of the Rediscovery Stream”｜G3-6F Artistic director Mirai Moriyama will be collaborating with editorial engineer Seigo Matsuoka! The title of this exhibition, “Ahead of the Rediscovery,” is inspired by Seigo Matsuoka’s philosophy of “Another Real Style” and its implementation, “Omi ARS.” In his later years, Seigo Matsuoka discovered new possibilities in art and artists, and approached Mirai Moriyama as a potential collaborator. Co-directed by Kentaro Watanabe, the exhibition will feature works by 14 artists who engage with crafts, handicrafts, memory, and inheritance. The aim is for each material and expression to quietly influence the viewer’s senses, creating a space that resonates with the “prayer” and “question” hidden in the everyday. In addition, as a linked exhibition to this project, there will be a special exhibition of swords by contemporary swordsmith Kawashima Kazushiro (Bizen Osafune). Visitors can see the works he creates in his own forging workshop in Bizen Osafune, Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture, a mecca for Japanese swords.
