September Kamigata Engei Special Selection (National Bunraku Theater) The “Kamigata Engei Tokusenkai” is held every other month at the National Bunraku Theater. This popular performance brings you the best of Kamigata performing arts, including rakugo, manzai, and rokyoku. The September Kamigata Entertainment Special Selection will offer plenty of entertainment, including rakugo performances by veterans, emotional rakugo, talk-style manzai, and the astonishing art of daikagura. This month’s highlight will be the final act (except the 27th), the longest-serving storyteller in the Kamigata rakugo world, Katsura Fukudanji IV. This year marks his 65th year in the
entertainment industry, and the appeal of “Fukudanji’s human-interest stories” shines brighter than ever. This is also a great opportunity to see a variety of other genres of Kamigata entertainment all at once. It’s finally the perfect season to enjoy the fresh cool air and go out.
