The final audition round took place on January 30, 2022, and on March 29, 2022, the members were unveiled and producer Rino Sashihara herself announced that the group would be named ≒JOY. On September 3, 2023, ≒JOY held their first concert, “Nice to meet you, we’re ≒JOY,” at the Pacifico Yokohama National Hall. From December 2023 to January 2024, they held their first tour, “Absolute,” which was a huge success. On January 17, they released their debut mini-album, “Kitto, Zettai, Zettai.” (It debuted at No. 1 on both the Oricon Weekly Album Ranking and Billboard JAPAN Top Album Sales, and exceeded 100,000 copies shipped on the first day of release.) On February 23, 2024, they held the “≒JOY 2nd ANNIVERSARY PREMIUM CONCERT” at Tokyo International Forum Hall A, drawing an audience of approximately 8,000 people to celebrate their second anniversary. On June 12, they released their long-awaited first single, “Taiikukan Disco.” (It debuted at number one on both the Oricon Weekly Singles Ranking and Billboard JAPAN Top Singles Sales. This is the first time in about two and a half years that a female artist has had both their first album and first single debut at number one on the Oricon charts.) On October 16th, they released their second single, “Hatsukoi Cinderella,” which debuted at number one on both the Oricon Weekly Singles Ranking and Billboard JAPAN Top Singles Sales. On March 1st, 2025, to commemorate their third anniversary, ≒JOY will hold their third anniversary concert, “≒JOY 3rd ANNIVERSARY PREMIUM CONCERT,” at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, their largest venue to date. Furthermore, on June 11th, they will release their third single, “Blue Hawaii Lemon.” It has shipped over 233,000 copies, a personal best.
