Roppongi Hills Observatory Tokyo City View (52nd floor, Roppongi Hills Mori Tower), operated by Mori Building Co., Ltd. (Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shingo Tsuji), will host a 30th anniversary exhibition, “ALL OF EVANGELION,” from Friday, November 14, 2025, to Monday, January 12, 2026 (national holiday). The exhibition begins with an impressive entrance featuring a large-scale figure of Evangelion Unit-01 against the observation deck’s spectacular backdrop. The exhibition then presents an unprecedented display of production materials from the original TV anime series, including original drawings from the new theatrical film series, offering a glimpse into how the series’ spectacular world was created. In this press release, we will introduce the key visual for this exhibition, as well as the latest information, including new exhibition
information, tickets exclusive to the Tokyo venue, special weekday visitor benefits, social media campaigns, and 30th anniversary information that can be enjoyed in conjunction with the exhibition. Exhibition composition ◆Entrance Located on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, the venue entrance offers spectacular views of Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Bay, featuring a massive Evangelion Unit-01 figure. After sunset, a lighting display exclusive to the Tokyo venue will add a touch of glamour to the 30th anniversary celebration.

This chapter offers a glimpse into the eve of the birth of the “Evangelion” series, based on the “setting materials” used during the animation production, which can be considered the blueprints of the work.

Characters and features were painted on transparent film called cels. They were divided into parts such as eyes and mouths, and used to express continuous, smooth movement. In this chapter, with the cooperation of the Anime & Special Effects Archive Organization, an NPO established by Hideaki Anno with the aim of managing and preserving anime and special effects materials, we will be exhibiting approximately 270 precious cels carefully selected from a total of over 10,000 existing cuts. This chapter showcases rare audio recordings of the voice actors’ auditions, storyboards that serve as the film’s blueprint, and a compilation of trailers that combine memorable shots with narration by Misato Katsuragi. The approximately 30-second trailers for each episode convey the sense of anticipation felt by viewers at the time.

As the films “:B” and “:Q” were released, the story took a completely different turn from “Neon Genesis Evangelion.” In this chapter, we will introduce how the creators’ thoughts and delicate brushwork are revealed through hand-drawn original drawings and layouts, as well as digitally created mecha and backgrounds, resulting in unprecedented visual beauty.

Based on the setting materials and original drawings from the final film, we trace how the world of “Evangelion,” which has continued to evolve from hand-drawn animation to digital production and even live-action techniques, has come to fruition.
