Exhibition composition ◆Entrance Located on the 52nd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, the venue entrance offers spectacular views of Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Bay, featuring a massive Evangelion Unit-01 figure. After sunset, a lighting display exclusive to the Tokyo venue will add a touch of glamour to the 30th anniversary celebration.

This chapter offers a glimpse into the eve of the birth of the “Evangelion” series, based on the “setting materials” used during the animation production, which can be considered the blueprints of the work.

In this chapter, with the cooperation of the Anime & Special Effects Archive Organization, an NPO established by Hideaki Anno with the aim of managing and preserving anime and special effects materials, we will be exhibiting approximately 270 precious cels carefully selected from a total of over 10,000 existing cuts. This chapter showcases rare audio recordings of the voice actors’ auditions, storyboards that serve as the film’s blueprint, and a compilation of trailers that combine memorable shots with narration by Misato Katsuragi. The approximately 30-second trailers for each episode convey the sense of anticipation felt by viewers at the time.
