What cars have accompanied him through his picture-perfect, stylish life? ■ Ogi is enamoured: “The person I most wanted to be like” For the MCs, Ogiyahagi, Roland is a model for MEN’S NON-NO. Ogi Hiroaki expressed his admiration for him, saying, “He’s the person I wanted to be like the most, actually. He’s so cool, and so is his lifestyle.” Roland comes from an illustrious family, with his mother being writer Yoko Kirishima and his sister being model Karen Kirishima, so it seems that Yahagi Ken’s entire family was also a fan… Roland appeared in a bright red Alfa Romeo Giulia Super. It was his first car, purchased at the age of 18. He said he and Karen split the purchase, revealing the shocking price at the time.

He also shares some crazy stories about the written test. The car is a 1967 model, utilizing cutting-edge aerodynamic technology at the time, but Yahagi makes some strong comments… Roland is a professional photographer, so he shares tips for taking cool photos of his beloved car. He also competes in a photo shoot with Ogiyahagi, demonstrating his professional photography skills… Roland moved to New York as a teenager, aiming to become a professional photographer. Though it’s possible to get by in New York without a car, he would drive to visit his father in Connecticut in his Ford Explorer. Back then, there were areas of New York that were off-limits, and he has some thrilling driving memories. “It was really crazy,” he recalls, revealing the incident that made him break out in a cold sweat. Roland went professional and began working in Japan as a fashion photographer in 1993. He also shared an anecdote about photographing world-famous model Kate Moss. After getting married in 2002, he bought a family car and seems to have enjoyed car life with his family. Many of his cars, such as the Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG and Toyota Hiace, are practical. One reason is that he can carry his filming equipment, but it’s also a choice that suits Roland, who also enjoys leisure activities. The Suzuki Jimny in particular is a memorable one for him, as he took part in a rally in Mongolia. He also reveals the inside story of the grueling race, which covered over 4,000 kilometers. A Jimny customized to the same specifications as his beloved car at the time appears on the program. Yahagi is so impressed by its hard driving feel that he blurts out his true feelings, saying, “If I was told to go to the mountains in this, I’d be a bit worried…” He had plans to emigrate to the United States with his beloved son, but had to give up on them due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
