Starting this year, an AI-based “description format” will be introduced, evolving the test to also test comprehension and proposal skills. The “Kyoto Food Meister Exam,” where participants learn about Kyoto ingredients, will be held online from November 1st (Sat) to 30th (Sun). This year, a new “descriptive format” utilizing AI has been introduced, evolving the exam to also test participants’ comprehension and ability to make suggestions. ■ What is the Kyoto Food Meister Examination? The “Kyoto Food Meister Certification Exam,” established by the Food Meister Association (located in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City) and others, is a certification exam that allows you to systematically learn about ingredients produced in Kyoto Prefecture, such as vegetables, seafood, fruit, mushrooms, and meat. The pass rate over the past 10 years has been 61%, and the exam is also popular among people in the food and beverage and tourism industries. ■ Introducing a new “descriptive” format starting this year In addition to the previous multiple-choice format, starting this year we will be partially introducing a “descriptive” format that utilizes AI. ○ Ability to explain in one’s own words ○ Ability to have a broad understanding of ingredients ○ The ability to create new proposals By measuring these, we provide more practical and in-depth learning.
