“Stop ‘Ore Ore’ Fraud 47 – Operation Family Bonds” Project Team Press Release: September 29, 2025 Special Crime Prevention Support Officer Yoshihara Asama of the National Police Agency conducts an anti-specialty fraud awareness campaign at the East Japan Adult Correctional Medical Center. The “Stop It’s My Son Fraud 47 – Operation Family Bonds” project team (abbreviated as SOS47) has been working with police departments in all 47 prefectures nationwide since 2018 to prevent victims of special frauds by providing easy-to-understand information about and prevention measures for special frauds, such as the “It’s My Son” fraud, which has been causing a rise in victims across the country. Mr. Asama Yoshihara, Special Crime Prevention Support Officer at the National Police Agency, introduced the current methods used by special fraud victims and called for people to apply for a suspension of international phone calls as a concrete measure to prevent fraud.

■Yoshihara Support Officer: “The number of victims is increasing not only among the elderly but also among working-age people.” When asked about recent fraud trends, Support Officer Yoshiwara addressed the gathered center staff, “Don’t you think that elderly people are more likely to be deceived by scams?” He continued, “In fact, these days, it’s not just the elderly who are being scammed; the number of victims is increasing among working-age people as well.” He also mentioned the term “police officer impersonation” as a key word in this scam, warning, “Police officers never send police IDs or arrest warrants via social media or chat apps. If you do receive one, it’s a scam, so please contact your family or the police immediately.” ■ Support Officer Yoshihara: “You can stop scam calls from overseas for free.” Support Officer Yoshihara mentioned that many of today’s scam calls come from overseas, and spoke about applying to suspend international calling, saying, “You can now block calls from overseas for free.” Support Officer Yoshihara then carefully explained the specific application process and important points to note. He urged the participants, “Anyone can block international phone numbers used for scam calls for free, regardless of phone company or age, so I hope more people will take action.
