Nakamura Keith Haring Collection Press Release: October 1, 2025 The award ceremony for the 17th Nakamura Keith Haring Collection International Children’s Art Competition will be held on October 26th. 1,640 entries from 23 countries and regions around the world were submitted under the theme of “Kindness,” and 11 winning works were announced. The Nakamura Keith Haring Museum (Kobuchizawa, Yamanashi Prefecture) has announced the 11 winning works selected from 1,640 entries from 23 countries and regions for the 17th Nakamura Keith Haring Museum International Children’s Art Competition. The award ceremony will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025. The competition began in 2009 as the only international children’s art competition sanctioned by the Keith Haring Foundation in New York. Carrying on the legacy of Keith Haring, who engaged in social activism through art, the Art Fair is held every autumn as a forum for children aged 4 to 18 to express their free-spirited worldviews. To date, we have received over 17,000 submissions from over 50 countries and regions.

In this competition, art experts and judges active in a variety of fields around the world will evaluate works by children ages 4 to 18 based on the year’s theme, each judging them from their own
perspective, including beauty, individuality, and impact on society. This year, we will welcome Yatsugatake-based artist Toshiro Tashiro as our guest, and together we will think about and create works based on the theme of the competition, “kindness.” For the children who have come face to face with “kindness” and expressed their own feelings, this workshop will be an opportunity to further broaden the scope of their creativity through an encounter with an artist and a thoughtful experience in the natural surroundings of Yatsugatake.
