Against the Kings and Gods YouTube thumbnail “Against the Kings and Gods” is the band’s first surprise release, released on August 29th (Yakiniku Day), celebrating their 15th anniversary this year. Written and composed by Jean-Ken Johnny, it’s a dark and majestic number sung entirely in English. The music video was created by Kensuke Endo, the video artist who also worked on MAN WITH A MISSION’s “Merry-Go-Round.” He’s a cutting-edge creator who has previously worked on music videos for HYDE’s “BELIEVING IN MYSELF,” 04 Limited Sazabys’ “Montage,” and Scheiderp’s “Burn!!.” The illustrations were created by Daisuke Yamamoto, an illustrator and graphic designer who also worked on the music video graphics for MAN WITH A MISSION’s “yoake” and “evergreen.” The story-like world of the lyrics is depicted in even greater detail with the accompanying illustrations.
