Be sure to check it out ♪ “Hana Doll* 4th season Human or Doll: Truth” Post-recording interview [Cast] Ryōga Kagekawa: Daiki Hamano Setsuna Yashiro: Shun Horie Toudou Masato: Ito Kento Chise: Komada Wataru Kisaragi Kaoru: Toki Shunichi Mashiro Yuki: Seiichiro Yamashita Yota Kiyose: Toshiki Masuda *Honorifics have been omitted below. ──What would you say are the highlights or points of interest in this album’s story or the character you play? Kagekawa Ryoga/Hamano Daiki (hereinafter, Hamano): Continuing from the previous two episodes, the investigation or search for the truth gradually begins to bear fruit, and we get a major clue. That’s the content of the drama. I think this will be a development where Ryōga realizes something and, in a sense, the efforts of the past few volumes come to fruition, so I hope you’ll pay attention to that. It comes up quite often in conversations, so I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next, and I think the highlight of the story will be the content that builds that sense of anticipation. Yashiro Setsuna/Horie Shun (hereinafter, Horie): Things have started to move forward in a big way. This is a very important development that gets to the heart of the story. Who am I playing now? The seeds of suspicion that have been sprouts for a while are finally here. Finally. It’s going to be terrifying. Please give it a listen. Toudou Masato/Ito Kento (hereinafter, Ito): The highlight of this episode is the scene where Masato’s courage finally takes shape. He’s still so clumsy and so slow…!! It’s frustrating, but I was happy to see him muster up the courage and reveal his emotions. If you’re wondering who pulled him out, it was Chise. I think Masato took a big step forward in his own way. Now all he has to do is follow the path he believes in! Chise/Komada Wataru (hereinafter, Komada): In this story, Chise becomes almost doll-like, and what struck me was the many scenes that were extremely unbearable to watch. There’s a scene in her interaction with Masato where we see a glimpse of hope, just for a moment, and for me, that was the scene that hit me the hardest. If we’re talking about hope and despair, where is the hope anymore? This episode was as heavy as ever, with the dark side clearly highlighted! Just as you’d expect from “Hana Doll*.” Yuki Mahiro/Yamashita Seiichiro (hereinafter Yamashita): Personally, the highlight was definitely the interaction with his father, President Amagiri. There were scenes where they exchanged conversations in the early episodes and in the anime version, but this was the first time they’d had such a prolonged, explosive atmosphere, so it was very tense. It felt like this exchange was only possible because of Mahiro’s growth, and it was very moving. Yota Kiyose/Toshiki Masuda (hereinafter, Masuda): “We’re no longer left out in the cold!” Probably not! I think we’ll probably no longer be left out in the cold. ──Please tell us what you think are the highlights and points we should pay attention to in the songs “Curtain call” and “Wilting” included on this CD. Hamano: In terms of the music, it feels like the rough parts are gradually disappearing and it’s becoming much cleaner. I also feel like the harmonies between everyone are blending more beautifully. It feels like it’s
“Anthos*-like, but not Anthos*-like.” The rap isn’t that strong, either. Horie: I’d love for you to listen to it and compare it to the content of the drama. The difficulty level is naturally high, but it’s definitely worth listening to, so I hope you’ll look forward to it. Thank you! Ito: “Curtain Call” is an ominous title, and it’s so straightforward: Curtain Call…!! Is it over? Is it over!? No, not yet. I’ll give it my all. I can still give it my all!! It’s a refreshing song, but don’t try to fly away in that refreshing way! Not yet!! “Wilting” starts off heavy and sluggish, but as the tempo picks up, it’s a wonderful song filled with energy that’s trying to break through the status quo. The chorus work is beautiful. Komada: “Curtain call” is a wonderful song with a refreshing sound and a chorus that makes you want to sing along! The lyrics sometimes seem determined, sometimes just emptiness, and sometimes the truth is hard to pin down!! And “Wilting” is the height of ominousness, with the title already suggesting withering. Despite this, the sound is liberating and seemingly refreshing, almost as if the flowers have already bloomed, making it even more catchy. The lyrics even directly mention withering… please spare me… Yamashita: “Curtain Call,” as the title suggests, makes you feel like the story’s ending is near. It has a refreshing and gentle melody, but also a touch of sadness, making it a deeply moving song. “Wilting” seems like a cruel word for a title like “Hana Doll*”… The unsettling yet beautiful musicality is a specialty of this work, but the lyrics really move me more than usual. Masuda: Even though the main story is this kind of drama, the songs are still being produced. I felt like the difference in information between the inside story depicted in the drama and the people who follow idol content (in the story) was more clearly expressed than ever before. Compared to the early days, when one of the two songs featured a more “boyish” feel, both of these songs seem to have a more cohesive feel as the “deified idols” desired by those outside. ──Please give a message to the fans who will listen to your CD. Hamano: I’ve been talking with Ito-kun for the past two volumes or so about how it’s not right to just say, “Please look forward to it” (laughs). However, the content is like a ray of hope, gradually clearing up the “fuzziness” that’s been building up until now. I think it might be interesting to re-listen to the recent dramas or the early ones before listening to this one. That’s how packed this first volume is. This volume feels like the final step toward the goal of Anthos* and the entire “Hana Doll*,” so please listen with open arms. Horie: “Hana Doll*” is so amazing… That’s all I can say. This drama is truly breathtaking. Please look forward to it… Ito: I’m sure all of you who have been supporting Anthos* for a long time are feeling a sense of excitement as well as suspense from recent developments. That’s exactly how I feel! It feels so good! Maybe it’s because it feels like the final, steep drop of a roller coaster has begun?? On the other hand, maybe it would be nice to enter “Hana Doll*” from here!? Is the story heading for a steep drop or a steep rise?… I’m not sure yet, but it seems like the mystery will soon be revealed. Please continue to support us, no, even more than ever! Komada: Chise was quiet in a sense, but everything around her was intense and dynamic this time. It’s a very heavy story, and the uncertainty about the future remains, but it’s also refreshing to see so many things clearly stated. We can’t help but wait with bated breath to see what happens next, what the future holds… With two meaningful, gripping songs, this album is sure to captivate everyone once again! Please give it plenty of listens! Kaoru Kisaragi/Shunichi Toki: He has spent a long time working toward his dream. He wondered why he joined the Hana Doll* Project, and after meeting the members, new thoughts were born. It’s surely something he wouldn’t have had in his normal life. I think it was a critical moment for Hana Doll* Project and for his life itself.
