conversation This project was made possible by Miraiya Bookstore, which reached out to the two authors, who have both written books on the Showa era. This was the first time the two met in person. Through the theme of “Showa,” which they each explore in their own books, they engaged in a lively discussion about their writing styles and the appeal of the Showa era masterpieces they selected for this project. This program is full of fascinating content that can only be found here, including behind-the-scenes stories about the creation of Satoshi Ogawa’s book “Kimi no Quiz.”

After graduating from the Department of Sociology at Kwansei Gakuin University, he joined the Kobe Shimbun newspaper. In 2010, he made his debut as a novelist, winning the 5th Novel Contemporary Newcomer Award for Novels for “Alpha on the Board.” The same work also won the Grand Prize in the Literary Division of the 23rd Shogi Pen Club Awards. He left the Kobe Shimbun newspaper in 2012. His other works include “Voice of Sin,” “The Goddess’s Tact,” “Let’s Do Our Best Together,” “Collapse,” “Scattered on the Board,” and “The Scent of Snow.”

He made his debut in 2015 with “This Side of Eutronica,” which won the Grand Prize at the 3rd Hayakawa SF Contest. In 2017, he won the 38th Japan SF Grand Prize and the 31st Yamamoto Shugoro Prize for “Game Kingdom.” In 2010, he won the 13th Yamada Futaro Prize for “Map and Fist,” and the following year the same work won the 168th Naoki Prize.
