Woolly General Incorporated Association (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Nakamura) and SEKITOBA LLC (Headquarters: Ota-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Fujimura) will conduct a demonstration experiment of the 3D avatar AI “SHIORI” from October 4 to 30, 2025, at Machiyama, a library and other complex in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture. According to our research (as of September 2025), this will be the first time that a 3D avatar AI that selects tools will be permanently installed in Niigata Prefecture. ■3D avatar AI “SHIORI” becomes a tool advisor. Proposing a new library experience “SHIORI” was originally created as an AI librarian who recommends books. At this year’s “Factory Festival,” it appears as a “Tool Advisor.” It offers a new service that interacts with users to find out what they want to make and suggests the tools they need. By not only providing knowledge but also encouraging people to take their first steps toward creativity, we further expand the role of libraries. ■ Background Libraries have traditionally provided knowledge and materials, but they are now expected to evolve into entities that support the imagination and creative activities of each and every user. In particular, in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, known as a “town of manufacturing,” there is great social significance in the library linking with local industry and culture and supporting the creative activities of its citizens.
