The high ceilings, natural-textured mortar flooring, and neutral white walls are featured. The revolving wall at the entrance is red on one side and white on the other, allowing the impression of the space to be freely changed. This flexible design allows for changes in impression depending on the exhibition theme, making it a space where you can enjoy a fresh experience every time you visit. This space was designed by Kyushu-based designer Manabu Takasu. He accurately captured the local culture and the Alfrex worldview, expressing the unique character of the new brand base.

https://www.gaku-design.com/ “Compared to the PROPOSTA showroom and PROPOSTA di CASA in Nakasu Nakajimacho, Alflex Fukuoka is located closer to the center of Tenjin, making it a more accessible location for more people. We focused on creating a sense of openness and the casual, casual feel of being able to just drop in. We emphasized a bright and healthy image to make Alfrex’s casual, everyday items even more appealing. The revolving wall changes the atmosphere of the space by changing the angle, and the semi-skeleton ceiling changes the impression of the store depending on the angle from which it is viewed. We aimed to create a space where customers will discover something new every time they visit, and want to return again and again. I will never forget the shock I felt when I first saw MARENCO over 30 years ago. It is deeply moving to see the sofa on display in its unchanged form, and I hope this space will become a place to convey the appeal of Alfrex to future generations. – Manabu Takasu Also featured is the “arflex Archive Exhibition,” showcasing Arflex’s half-century involvement in Japanese living rooms. In addition to RAINBOW, the brand’s origins, the exhibition will feature a special edition MARENCO collection created in collaboration with textile designer Masaru Suzuki. Additionally, posters created by photographer Osamu Nagahama in the 1970s will be on display for a limited time. In addition, as a special feature unique to the region, a special artwork based on MARENCO will be on display by Nakamura Hiromine, the fourth-generation Nakamura Doll maker and doll artist. Visitors can enjoy this one-of-a-kind piece that brings together Nakamura’s original characters and MARENCO.

Founder Tadashi Hoshina was inspired by airplane seats and came up with the innovative idea of combining a cushion with an FRP (fiber reinforced plastic) base. It was the first furniture product to use FRP, and its incorporation of wrinkles, previously considered taboo, into the design attracted attention and became an explosive hit. Even after production ceased in 1973, its success became the foundation for the development of original products.
A special work by doll artist Hiromine Nakamura featuring the Malenko motif will also be on display.

I proceeded with the production, checking the comfort and feel of the materials, and then introduced my original character, “FLOW BOY.” “FLOW” represents flow and time, but also carries the meaning of “immortality = eternity.” By having FLOW BOY sit on MARENCO, we hope that the store and its products will continue to exist forever, while also evoking a sense of Alfrex’s history. The wave (FLOW WAVE) on the sofa represents the flow of time from the past to the present. The way the dolls crash against the moss and rocks represents encounters between people, and between products and people. The waves of the Hakata dolls evoke the image of the Hakata Yamakasa festival, and to people overseas, they are reminiscent of Katsushika Hokusai’s “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji.” I am pleased that my work has been added to MARENCO, which
collaborates with artists both in Japan and abroad. – Hiromine Nakamura / Fourth Generation Nakamura Doll
