Ichihara City Press Release: October 3, 2025 [Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture] Mr. Noritoshi Furuichi speaks at the Ichihara City Human Rights and Gender Equality Forum, “For Smooth Gender Equality” We will be holding a forum on human rights and gender equality to realize “Ichihara, where all citizens have their human rights respected, can fully demonstrate their individuality and abilities in society, regardless of gender, and live vibrant lives that are true to themselves.” This year, we have invited sociologist and commentator Noritoshi Furuichi to speak on the theme of “Toward Smooth Gender Equality.” He will examine the current state of people’s awareness of gender and discuss the perspectives and key points necessary to promote gender equality.

Visiting Professor at Nihon University College of Art. Senior Research Fellow at Keio University SFC Research Institute. He has attracted attention for his book “Happy Young People in a Country of Despair,” which accurately depicts the lifestyles of young people and coolly defends them. He serves as a member of the “Intensive Review Meeting on Economic and Fiscal Trends” and the Cabinet Secretariat’s “Cool Japan Promotion Committee.” He is a recipient of the Ikushi Prize from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. His other works include “That’s Why Japan is Out of Step” (Shincho Shinsho) and “Making Nursery Schools Compulsory Education.” In 2018, he published his first novel, “Goodbye, Heisei-kun.” His other works include “A History of Japan That Will Never Give Up,” “Hinomaru,” and “100 Years of Showa.”
