Fujisawa City, Fujisawa City Tourism Association (Public Interest Incorporated Association), Enoshima Electric Railway Co., Ltd., Shonan Monorail Co., Ltd., and Enoshima Aquarium will be holding “Godzilla vs. Enoshima – The Great Enoshima Aquarium Monster Battle” from Saturday, October 4, 2025 to Monday, November 17, 2025, where you can enjoy a tour around Shonan Fujisawa and Enoshima. Godzilla was released in Japan in 1954, and the Enoshima Aquarium, the predecessor to the new Enoshima Aquarium, also opened in the same year. Seventy years later, monsters have appeared in the waters around Enoshima. This is a tour event where you can enjoy searching for monsters that have appeared throughout the ages while also experiencing the nature, culture, and history of Enoshima, Fujisawa, and Shonan. What is Godzilla? Since his first appearance in 1954, Godzilla, the king of monsters, has captivated and shocked not only Japan but the entire world. The latest Japanese film, “Godzilla 1.0,” released in 2023, recorded a domestic box office revenue of 7.64 billion yen. It has not only dominated domestic cinemas, but also North America and other screens around the world, with cumulative box office revenue exceeding 15 billion yen. In addition, the Hollywood version of the fifth film, “Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire,” has surpassed 84.5 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue, and its momentum shows no signs of slowing down. Godzilla will celebrate his 70th anniversary in November 2024, and he will continue to reign as the ultimate king of monsters. A press conference for “Godzilla vs. Enoshima – The Great Enoshima Aquatic Monster Battle” was held at Fujisawa City Hall on Thursday, September 25, 2025.

I expect that the appearance of Godzilla and the five-headed dragon together at Enoshima will attract a lot of attention.”

In addition, the original illustration “Emaki Goto Ryu/King Ghidorah” by Shinji Nishikawa, which will be featured on the bonus cards and stickers, was also unveiled for the first time, and Nishikawa shared his thoughts on the illustration. Special guest Godzilla appeared at the photo session that concluded the press conference, livening up the venue. Enjoy searching for monsters while exploring the Shonan and Enoshima area in autumn.

This five-headed dragon, which appears only in Ejima Engi, has been specially illustrated by Shinji Nishikawa, the monster designer for the Heisei Godzilla series. The five-headed dragon that appears in the Ejima Engi picture scroll is a five-headed dragon with five heads, a dragon never before seen in the world. Suddenly, monsters appeared in the waters around Enoshima in Shonan. Large-scale chaos engulfed tourists and local residents, and the area around Enoshima in Shonan became a special alert zone. The monsters’ appearance also drastically changed the ecosystem of Sagami Bay… And finally, the monsters landed on Enoshima. The Enosawa Monster Research Institute Special Investigation Unit (E.K.S.U.) began investigating the situation, but communication was cut off. ~The final message left by the research team~ “This is not a temporary phenomenon; some great force must be at work…” The Enosawa Aquarium Monster Research Institute collects and studies creatures with characteristics similar to those of the monsters, hoping to find clues to unravel the mystery. At the same time, they decide to recruit new members for the research team to reclaim the peace of the Shonan Enoshima area.
