The latest visuals have been released for “Onmyoji: Princess Seibiri,” based on the original work by Baku Yumemakura (published by Bunshun Bunko). This is the first Japanese-style work in a project centered around popular director Minoru Nosaka, which has adapted classic works for the stage. The production will run from Friday, October 10th to Monday, October 13th, 2025, at Theater Mixa in Ikebukuro. This work is a stage adaptation of the popular “Onmyoji” series, a series that colored the Heian period, and its masterpiece, the full-length novel “Princess Seigen.” The tale of Abe no Seimei, Minamoto no Hiromasa, and the princess at the mercy of fate is woven by a stellar cast of voice actors and creators. An ensemble cast has also been announced to add even more color to the story. Anticipation is building for this beautiful yet fleeting tale of demons breathing in the darkness of the Heian period. Onmyoji (exorcists) were responsible for protecting the Heian capital from evil spirits and supernatural creatures. Among them all, Abe no Seimei, a rare onmyoji (magician) who was hailed as the greatest of all time, was feared throughout the Imperial Court. One night, Minamoto no Hiromasa, a master flute player, visits Seimei. As they harmoniously share drinks, Hiromasa tells the story of a princess he met twelve years ago… As Hiromasa plays the flute by the bridge, a oxcart comes to a halt, as if listening to the sound. This continued for a while, and then one day, they heard the sound of a biwa intertwining with Hiromasa’s flute. Hakumasa called out to the princess in the oxcart and, seeing her beautiful figure, bid the princess farewell. …Tonight, twelve years later. The princess appears again before Hiromasa, who is playing the flute, and entrusts him with a wish for Seimei. At the mercy of fate, the princess is consumed by the demon that dwells deep within her heart.
