TBS Channel, a satellite broadcasting service operated by TBS Television, Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Ryuho Masamine), will host an event on September 23rd called “Vacuum Jessica VS Dolphins at Enoshima Aquarium,” featuring the popular comedy duo Vacuum Jessica collaborating with dolphins. Vacuum Jessica (Left: Gaku, Right: Kawakita Shigezumi) This event, planned by Vacuum Jessica, was held on September 23rd with the full cooperation of Enoshima Aquarium and produced by the staff of “Vacuum Jessica’s Boring TV,” which previously aired on TBS Channel. Tickets sold out quickly, and many spectators enjoyed the dream collaboration between Vacuum Jessica and dolphins. The event proceeded with Vacuum Jessica and the dolphins alternately performing twice, with the audience judging at the end. At the opening, Shigezumi Kawakita declared, “We’ll bring you some serious material. We won’t be making excuses about the aquarium or the dolphins.” Vacuum Jessica then performed a serious manzai act from the very first act. Meanwhile, the dolphins, who were performing second, prepared an original program for the event. Furthermore, in an interview after the show, Gaku commented, “Their composition was brilliant. Iruka and the others were better.” The Irukas skillfully constructed the flow of the first and second acts. As a result, Iruka won with almost a unanimous vote, and Vacuum Jessica had to undergo a penalty game.

There was also a comedy showdown between Vacuum Jessica and Awatan, the official mascot of the Enoshima Aquarium. Awatan, who also showed unexpected skill, emerged victorious. Despite losing, Vacuum Jessica promised to upload a collaboration video with Awatan to her own YouTube channel.

Kawakita Shigezumi: “I performed as a manzai comedian and as a representative of humanity. It was tough, but I have no regrets.” Gaku: “I have no regrets. I did everything I could and lost, so I guess it can’t be helped.” Kawakita: “When I finished the second skit, I thought, ‘I might have won.’ But the dolphins were smarter than me.” Gaku: “The dolphins took advantage of the rule of performing two skits, one in the first half and one in the second half. It was a really clever composition, and they were really good.” -How did it feel to stand on stage in front of a pool for the first time? Kawakita: “It was incredibly easy to do our manzai routine. The floor wasn’t slippery at all.” Gaku: “I thought it would be slippery because it was wet, but it’s actually well-treated.” Kawakita: “I wish all theaters had floors like this.” Gaku: “It was incredibly easy to do.”
–Did you learn anything from this result? Kawakita: “I guess it’s a strategy.” Gaku: “I have to think carefully before I go.” Kawakita: “I have to take it home properly.
