The “I Left XX at the End of the Earth” series (commonly known as “Sekahate”) is a documentary variety show that explores questions like, “Why do people travel?” and “What is the purpose of this journey we call ‘life’?” by leaving famous people behind at the ends of the earth and providing glimpses of the local area and the interactions they have along the way. In the two series that have aired so far, businessman Hiroyuki Nishimura and actor Masahiro Higashide have attempted to cross Africa and South America, respectively. In the third installment of the series, “I Left My Car at the End of the World,” comedian duo Reiwa Roman’s “Kuruma” (“I Left My Car at the End of the World”) aims to travel across South Asia, traveling almost exclusively by land, such as local buses and hitchhiking, for their first-ever overseas trip. Episode 3, airing Sunday, October 5th, kicks off with actor Masahiro Higashide, who has previously traveled across Africa and South America, standing in a temple-like setting. The video showed Higashide with a serious look on his face, lost in deep emotion, before suddenly appearing shirtless in front of the camera. Viewers praised him with comments such as “A handsome man has appeared” and “He’s a picturesque presence,” but also drew attention with comments such as “He suddenly bares his clothes” and “Higashide, where are you?”

They visited a restaurant in an upscale residential area with Saddam, Aisha, and their daughter, Filia, who greeted them on the street. While waiting for their food, Kuruma asked, “Why are you eating with us?” Saddam replied, “Because we’re important guests from Japan,” and “This country places great importance on welcoming people.” Kuruma was touched and said, “Of all the Bangladeshis, you’re the kindest.” He continued, “Of all the Japanese, I’m the funniest.” Saddam’s hesitant reaction prompted Kuruma to demonstrate his “championship” by showing photos on his smartphone: “I’m champion! M-1 Grand Prix champion,” “I won 10 million yen in prize money.” When Saddam and his wife finally showed interest after seeing the photo and asking, “Is this you?” Kuruma beamed, “Yes! Yes!” and “Isn’t that amazing?”

When asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Filia answered, “Army” and “I want to help my country.” Kuruma was astonished, saying, “That’s amazing…at just 6 years old?” He speculated, “(Japanese people) want to be police officers because they’ve met police officers…maybe it’s because they see the military.” Having seen tanks parked on the roads of Dhaka that day, Kuruma reflected on the current situation in Bangladesh, where the military is a familiar presence, and the girl’s dreams. breathtaking sight awaits him, making him exclaim, “Wow!”… “I wonder if there was something going on (until yesterday)… It was my first time overseas, but I was like, ‘I can go anywhere,'” “From here on, I want to learn more about Bangladesh, the country that has shown me so much.” What is the encounter at Sadrughat Port that brings about a change of heart for Kuruma…?
