It is said to have originated between the end of the Heian period and the beginning of the Kamakura period, and is designated a Japan Heritage Site as one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns, one of Japan’s most representative pottery-producing regions. The kiln has been in operation for approximately 850 years, and has continued to produce mainly everyday items such as plates, teacups, sake bottles, and vases, and is popular for its rustic atmosphere that allows you to feel the warmth of the earth.
