Author Makiko Kanai studied at the National Agricultural College in France and is now an importer with the BPREA national certification for winemakers. She personally visits domaines across France, interacts with winemakers, and has created the “Makikore” wine collection, a curated selection of wines that you’ll want to drink for the rest of your life. ★Characteristics of Makikore Wine Makikore wine is made from low-yield, healthy, fully ripe grapes. Its oxidation resistance makes it appealing, with a pure, clear fruitiness without any impurities or cloudiness. Producers use organic or similar farming methods, and even though they are now known as “natural” producers, they still practice the original production methods passed down from their predecessors. Reading the stories of the people at the domaine, you’ll notice that even seemingly similar farming and winemaking methods have their own unique characteristics.
