Nestled in the mountains of Nagaokakyo City, Kyoto, is Yanagidani Kannon (Yokokuji Temple). This ancient temple is home to the sacred waters of “Okozui,” associated with Kobo Daishi, and has long been a place of worship for those praying for the cure of eye ailments. It is also known as the birthplace of the popular “Hanachozu” (flower water basin), a popular fountainhead on social media. The temple will host its annual Autumn Leaves Week in this charming, tranquil space from Saturday, November 15, 2025, to Sunday, December 7, 2025. During this period, you can enjoy the autumn leaves and gardens in vibrant shades of orange and yellow. The Kamishoin tea room, formerly reserved for VIPs, will also be open to the public for a special viewing. Enjoy a photogenic experience in this prestigious space, which has also been used for filming movies and commercials. Kamishoin is usually open only in the morning on the 17th of each month, but it is open to the public during Autumn Leaves Week.
