Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre hosts a monthly “Theatre Tour” where you can discover and experience the theatre’s various charms. In November, after touring the building and artwork, you’ll enter the hall as it prepares for a performance, accompanied by commentary from the stage technical staff. Enjoy the many charms of the theater that you wouldn’t get to experience just by watching a performance. Why not try a theater experience this autumn, the season of art? ◆November 2025 Implementation Overview After learning about the numerous artworks on display and each hall, you’ll enter the hall and take a look inside. Led by a unique tour guide, this one-hour tour will allow you to fully experience the charm of the theater. This time, you’ll see the stage setup and preparation work for the TOKYO FORWARD 2025 Cultural Program play “TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN,” accompanied by commentary from the stage technical staff. While you’re taking in the impressive on-site performance, we’ll explain the hall’s features and the preparations involved. Featuring a concert hall dedicated to music and featuring one of the world’s largest pipe organs, a playhouse for theater and dance performances, and two small halls, the theater serves as a creative and outreach theater, where works of the performing arts are created and presented. The theater also actively hosts exhibitions, lectures, workshops, and other activities in its studios and galleries.

You’ll learn about the history of the Gekijyo Theater, the hall’s features, and behind-the-scenes stories only theater staff know. The tour route changes each time depending on the hall’s usage, but each tour is packed with attractions, including the hard aspects of the building, such as the architecture and stage mechanisms, as well as the soft aspects of the performances and concerts that are staged, as well as the art pieces displayed throughout the building and outside. Tour Guide Guidance Your tour will be led by tour guides who are passionate about theater. They will use their expertise and individuality to convey the charm of the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre. You’ll walk around the building with us, enter empty auditoriums to understand how the hall works, and hear from the people involved in its creation.
