Streaming begins on Tuesday, October 21st at midnight on “Young Champion Web” 80 years after the war, war stories collected from all over Japan have been turned into manga in a special collaboration with Uonome Santa’s “Senso Meshi”! Episode 4 of the manga “Junior Chamber of Commerce Japan Version War Meals,” a collaborative project between the Junior Chamber of Commerce Japan (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Masahiro Tonoguchi; hereafter “JC Japan”), Akita Shoten Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tokuji Yamaguchi), and manga artist Santa Uonome, began streaming on the digital comic site “Young Champion Web” at midnight on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Episode 4 is a story from “Kyoto” This year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the war. In an effort to pass on to future generations the “war memories buried in local communities” of various regions, as memories of the war fade away, JC Japan is embarking on the “Project to Excavate Stories from 80 Years Ago” by recording and disseminating these stories through the accessible medium of manga. We solicited stories from across the country about life and food during wartime 80 years ago, and selected episodes were illustrated by Uonome as a special edition of “War Meals.” Episode 4, which began streaming at midnight on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, was provided by a Kyoto resident. It tells the story of a soldier assigned to a Japanese Navy transport fleet and introduces the “two foods” that saved him from near-fatal accidents.
