The Okubo Chiyotayu Troupe launched in 2020 with the Shuji Terayama Reading Play & Live “Pull the Trigger! Words are Weapons! Let’s Go!” Since then, it has been held every year and continues to expand in scale. Although it is called a reading play, there are many performances that do not use a book, and the performers are diverse, including dancers, singers, and actors! Each performer will play the lead role in their own production. The stage art is by art artist Mantam. Choreography by Hiroshi Kami. That scene from the movie “Death in the Countryside” sees Mikami Hiroshi appear after 51 years. Flower Meg is appearing in her first performance with the Okubo Chiyodayu troupe. She sings “Yume wa Yoru Hiraku” (Dreams Open at Night) accompanied by Mikami Hiroshi on guitar. Sakumi Hagiwara delivers a speech about the “Human-Powered Airplane Solomon.” Yutaka Nemoto’s “America” (Evening Show Only) brings to mind a balcony. Hiroshi Kami, who has been praised worldwide as a “cross-gender performer” for his role as “Princess Medea,” plays “Black Lizard.” “On the State” by Taka Okubo, the eccentric actor of Kara Juro’s Situation Theater. The final song is “Imagine,” written by Kiyoshiro Imawano. Sung by rock musician Harumi Yamazaki! On double bass is Daisuke Fuwa, the Shibusa Shirazu! On violin is Yasukan Goto! On percussion is Miyamo!
