Act Indy, Inc. Press Release: October 23, 2025 [Sports Day Survey 2025] Over half will be held in autumn, approximately 90% will be shortened to half a day, and over 90% will have no time for family lunches / IkoYo Family Lab A new form of “sports day” is emerging!?

Here we introduce the latest information on sports days as revealed by our survey. <Topics> ▶Week of Sports Day: While more than half are held in the fall, about 30% are held in the spring. ▶Format of Event: Approximately 90% are held in a shortened format. ▶Over 90% of families “don’t have lunch time” ▶Summary (This release is an excerpt from “Latest Sports Day Trends”. For the full article, click here.) Half of sports days are held in autumn! Approximately 30% hold sports days in the “spring.” When asked about the timing of sports days, 52.1% (more than half) answered “autumn (September to November),” indicating that autumn is the main time to hold sports days. This suggests that the timing of sports days is becoming more diverse in order to prevent heatstroke and avoid concentrating events. View this survey https://iko-yo.net/articles/19927 Approximately 90% of sports days are held on a shortened schedule When asked about the format of sports day, 75.5% answered “shortened to morning or afternoon only,” revealing a significant change from the traditional all-day format.

In cases where events were held over 2-4 days, some respondents indicated that they split the events over several days, such as holding only the school-wide footrace on Monday and other school-wide events on Saturday. survey https://iko-yo.net/articles/19927 Over 90% of people “don’t have lunch time with their family” When asked whether there was time for families to eat lunch together (lunch time) at the sports day, 59.2% of respondents answered that there was no time to eat lunch in the sports day program, and 35.5% answered that there was no time (children ate school lunch or brought their own lunch separately from their families)

With the increase in shortened sports days, it appears that lunch at sports days is changing from a “time to enjoy a family lunch” to “scheduling that does not include lunch time” and “children eating lunch separately from their parents at school.” View this survey https://iko-yo.net/articles/19927 Summary The latest survey conducted in 2025 revealed that while autumn sports days remain the norm, the number of spring sports days is steadily increasing due to heatstroke prevention measures and other factors. Approximately 90% of sports days will be shortened, a major change from the traditional all-day format. Furthermore, over 90% of respondents said they will no longer have time for family lunches, indicating that the traditional sports day format of the past is becoming a thing of the past. It appears that a “new style of sports day” that reduces the burden on schools and kindergartens and takes safety into consideration is becoming established across the country. heartwarming sight to watch. However, in recent years, some media and social media have taken up the new term “cheer section harassment” (o-hara) to refer to “excessive cheering” or “excessive interference and pressure on other parents and children,” causing a stir. We conducted a survey to find out how aware parents are of “o-hara” and what they value when cheering. Here are our findings. Is there “cheer section harassment”?
