Prefecture. The Katsurao AIR 2025 Autumn Activity Report Meeting will be held from Friday, October 31st to Monday, November 3rd (National Holiday). An activity report meeting for the Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program, which allows contemporary artists to stay and create art, was held in Katsurao Village. You can enjoy it together with the village’s major event, the Katsura Blessings Thanksgiving Festival. Katsuryoku Sozosha General Incorporated Association (Katsurao Village, Futaba District, Fukushima Prefecture, Representative Director: Shimoeda Hironori) has announced the launch of its art project implementation team, “Katsurao This year, the Katsurao Collective has been
commissioned by Katsurao Village to once again host “Katsurao AIR,” Japan’s largest contemporary art residency program. Three artists currently residing in Katsurao Village, conducting research and creating art, will be holding a four-day activity report session from Friday, October 31st to Monday, November 3rd (national holiday).

In 2023, she completed her doctoral studies in Western painting at Joshibi University of Art and Design’s Graduate School of Fine Arts. By observing the physical forces and relationships surrounding her, such as the origins of things, and incorporating her own imagination, she attempts to reweave stories from a perspective other than scientific or archaeological, through the creation of oil paintings and structures. Her major solo exhibitions include “Tracing flow” (Global Lab, Tokyo, 2025). INUMARU Akira Born in Ibaraki Prefecture in 1984. After graduating from the Department of Oil Painting at Musashino Art University, he moved to France in 2008. After graduating from a graduate school of fine arts in Rouen, France, she is currently based in Rouen and Paris. Focusing on the “light accumulated in plants,” she explores “light that can be touched, light that illuminates the spirit” through drawings in which parts of the work are burned in sunlight and paintings using pigments that react to light. Her major solo exhibitions include “Chambres ardentes” (Saint-Maclou Church, Rouen, France, 2024).

Currently a fourth-year undergraduate student majoring in oil painting at Tokyo University of the Arts. Focusing on the role of humans as living creatures, living and creating artworks, he creates three-dimensional works and installations with animal motifs. His notable past projects include “Akigawa Art Stream” (Village Hinoara, Tokyo, 2024). Information about concurrent workshops Monday, November 3rd (National Holiday) 10:00-15:00 Workshop “Let’s Make a Katsurao Corn!” Using soil collected from various areas of Katsurao Village, participants will create ceramic cone-shaped objects called “Katsurao Cones.” Their creations will be fired at 1230°C and delivered approximately one month later. You can pick them up in person at the Katsurao Collective office or have them delivered (additional shipping fees apply). No application is required.
