disseminates designs for adaptation to increasingly severe climate disasters around the world. Leveraging his experience and
international leadership, which he played a central role as an executive committee member and speaker at the World Design Congress, held in Japan for the first time in 34 years, he will further promote global design initiatives from Japan, including the preservation of design.

“NOSIGNER”), is a member of the World Design Organization (WDO). He has been reappointed to a second term (2025-2028) as a Director of the World Design Organization (WDO). Tachikawa played a central role as an executive committee member and speaker at the WDO World Design Assembly Tokyo 2023, held in Japan for the first time in 34 years. Since becoming a Director, he has led the international team as Chair of the Membership Committee and Vice Chair of the Programs Committee. He has also played an important role in WDO’s branding and
communication strategy. His reappointment is in recognition of his interdisciplinary collaboration skills and international leadership. Going forward, we will further promote international initiatives such as adapting to the climate crisis, preserving design heritage, and discovering and raising awareness of design that is positive for the future and nature. We are entering a new phase of sustainably promoting global design from a Japanese perspective. We aim to create and disseminate designs that help adapt to increasingly severe climate disasters around the world, to demonstrate our influence in places where design is truly needed, and to contribute to a better society. ▍What is the World Design Organization (WDO)?

I will continue to serve for the next two years. We have wonderful news today. Makiko Tsumura of the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP) has been elected as the next President (2027-2029). This is an unprecedented situation, with two Japanese members serving on the WDO Board of Directors. Together with Ms. Tsumura, we will use this opportunity to promote global design from Japan. In particular, over the next two years, I would like to focus on: ・Creating and disseminating designs for adaptation to intensifying climate disasters around the world ・Activities to preserve design heritage and connect it to the future ・Discovering and raising awareness of designs that are positive for the future and nature Japan has a culture of coexistence with nature. We will share our experiences with disasters with the world and learn from excellent practices around the world, striving to ensure that design can be utilized where it is truly needed.
