It began in 2021 as a related project to the “Children’s Day Concert,” a signature event at Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall that has been running since 2000. Every year, they work with various professionals involved in performance production, such as hall and orchestra staff and stage directors, to prepare for the event for about six months. During their activities, the student producers not only exchange ideas with each other, but also with experts and hall staff. We don’t just propose ideas; we work with our staff to consider specific methods, including customer needs, the necessary expenses, and schedules to realize the project. A major feature of this program is that participants not only get to see a glimpse of performance production, but also learn about the workings of society by getting involved in and thinking about performance production from various angles. 2. There will also be a post-performance reflection session! A cycle of activities leading to the following year’s performance

Sessions range from those related to performance content, such as considering song order and structure, to those learning about public relations activities, and even those learning about the duties of stage staff and
receptionists. You will have the opportunity to experience a wide range of work related to the performance. On the day of the
performance, you will be divided into stage staff and other on-stage personnel, and receptionists and other personnel responsible for customer service, working in various locations throughout the hall. You will also have the opportunity to watch one of the two
performances per day from the audience seats, experiencing the audience’s reactions up close. In the final session, you will reflect on your activities so far and the audience’s reactions on the day of the performance, discussing what went well and what needs improvement, and applying this knowledge to next year’s performances. After this reflection, every year during the summer vacation, volunteer members hold a planning meeting for the next performance. Having experienced a full range of performance productions, they are able to discuss more appealing performance themes and programs while considering both the producer’s and the audience’s perspectives. This cycle of activities, which also takes into account the following year’s performance, is one of the attractions of being a junior high school student producer. 3. A concert where children can enjoy a professional orchestra

Every year, we incorporate a variety of themes and music from a variety of genres, not just classical music, making it enjoyable for a wide range of ages, from children to adults. The 2026 event will be held on Tuesday, May 5th (national holiday). Look forward to a stage featuring the orchestra’s magnificent sound and the shining ideas of the junior high school producers!
