Questioning the “cancel culture” of “instant dismissal as soon as suspicion is raised” “Those who are employed must live their lives properly, like AI.” Daiki Kanechika: “In the end, it all comes down to who is supporting you and how much you are needed.” On the October 23, 2025 (Thursday) broadcast, we discussed the removal of professional photographer’s photographs from Ichikawa City, Chiba Prefecture, that were on display inside City Hall after a complaint was received. We discussed the merits of “cancel culture,” which leads to the removal or taking down of artworks due to outside opinions. The show’s MC, Rintaro of the comedy duo EXIT, raised the issue, saying, “Is it wrong to have a culture where someone is immediately removed as soon as suspicion is raised?” He continued, “The people who chose them may want to explain their reasons, but that could just add fuel to the fire,” and “We, the people who are chosen, should be truly righteous and live our lives like AI. We are doing that, but where is the true essence of things…?” He expressed his concerns about the current situation. He also pointed out the shrinking of expression, saying, “There must have been reasons why we wanted to use characters and talents, but it’s sad that we’ve come to the point where we think it’s better not to do that anymore than to fight and waste our energy and stamina.” Meanwhile, his partner, Daiki Kanechika, said, “I’ve been through that too,” and commented on the “cancellation” incident, “I guess it’s just because they decided it wasn’t necessary, and that’s what’s sad about it.” Citing the Osaka Expo as an example, he analyzed, “There were probably people who said they didn’t want it, but in the end, it was a big hit,” and “They went ahead and did it with a sense of purpose, because they felt it had to be done, and in the end, there weren’t that many problems.” He added that the important thing is whether the organizers are “serious about it,” adding, “In the end, it all comes down to who is supporting you and how much you need it. I hope you’ll recommend it with all your heart until the very end.” You can still watch the original broadcast on “ABEMA” if you missed it.
