Kayako Nakajima solo exhibition “bathroom songs” From DM Design CREATIVE HUB UENO “es” (opening April 2024) inside JR Ueno Station hosts exhibitions by artists recommended by various departments at Tokyo University of the Arts. We are pleased to announce the exhibition schedule for the second half of 2025. Starting with “bathroom songs,” a solo exhibition by Kayako Nakajima, whose work explores the asymmetry and discrepancy in communication and the motif of walls that separate things, the exhibition will then feature works by Kim Doyoung, a glass artist based in Toride City, Ibaraki Prefecture; an exhibition on the ongoing preservation and restoration project for Genichiro Inokuma’s large mural “Freedom” at the central ticket gate of JR Ueno Station; and a solo exhibition by Ryutaro Miyajima, who uses the animation device “Pinscreen.” In the second half of 2025, “es” will continue to open up spaces for creativity and encounters through diverse forms of expression. □Address: CREATIVE HUB UENO “es”, 7-1-1 Ueno, Taito-ku, Tokyo (near the Asakusa exit of Ueno Station) □ Hours: 11:00-19:00 (last entrance 18:45) □ Closed: Mondays (if a public holiday falls on a Monday, the next day will be closed) □ Admission: Free □ Website: https://ueno-es.jp/ ■Exhibition schedule (November 2025 to April 2026) 11/4 (Tue) – 12/7 (Sun) Kayako Nakajima Solo Exhibition “Bathroom Songs” Installation December 16th (Tue) – January 25th (Sun) *Winter closed from December 29th to January 4th Kim Doyoung Solo Exhibition “MOMENT” Glass crafts 2/3 (Tue) – 3/8 (Sun) Department of Cultural Properties Conservation, Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts Supervised by the Conservation and Restoration Oil Painting Laboratory “Genichiro Inokuma Mural “Freedom” Conservation and Restoration Project Related Exhibition (tentative)” Conservation and Restoration Project March 17th (Tue) – April 19th (Sun) Ryutaro Miyajima Solo Exhibition “Transitional Device: Pinscreen (tentative title)” Animation <Graduate School of Film and New Media> *Exhibition dates and contents are subject to change. ■Next exhibition

Photography: Hideki Okura. Not included in this exhibition. Kayako Nakajima Solo Exhibition “bathroom songs” Duration: November 4th (Tuesday) – December 7th (Sunday), 2025 The artist actively
incorporates change into his works, developing installations that unify the space and the artwork. This exhibition is a related project to “For example (If we could talk about pain like we talk about the weather),” which raises questions about transgender discrimination. CREATIVE HUB UENO “es,” located in a renovated former police box where many people come and go, creates a space where visitors can take their time, gaze at the light, and take a breather. ■Recommender’s Comment In this age where we are reminded that “walls” are steadily
increasing, both the physical walls erected here and there around the world and the invisible walls that separate us, the walls created by Kayako Nakajima simultaneously express the pain of not being able to understand each other and the will to still try to understand each other. This will surely stimulate our imagination for others, something we need right now. Utilizing the natural changes and beauty that occur in glass when heated, Kim Doyoung creates works that express her own thoughts and emotions in a straightforward manner, superimposing the resulting beauty of form and subtle fluctuations of light and color. In Kim Doyoung’s solo exhibition “MOMENT,” she will present works that capture and reconstruct fading memories, memories we do not want to forget, and moments that suddenly linger in our hearts in our daily lives.
