The 3rd Shijo Street Underground Art Exhibition “Art Under the Shijo” ~Art Competition by Six Student Groups~ ​ Hankyu Corporation Press Release: October 29, 2025 To Members of the Media 3rd Shijo Street Underground Art Exhibition “Art Under the Shijo” ~Art Competition by Six Student Groups~ The Shijo Dori Underground Passage Revitalization Promotion Council, comprised of the Shijo Prosperity Association Shopping District Promotion Association, Hankyu Corporation, and Kyoto City, has been working to revitalize the Shijo Dori Underground Passage through cultural activities such as photo exhibitions. Six student groups studying art and design at universities in Kyoto City will be creating and exhibiting artworks on the walls and pillars of the underground passage to create a space that is enjoyable to walk through. 1. Overview of “Art Under the Shijo” Six student groups, selected through a presentation judging process, simultaneously displayed artworks that reflected their individual sensibilities on the walls and pillars of the Shijo Dori Underpass (between Exits 12 and 13). Six diverse artworks decorate the underground passage, creating a pleasant space to walk through.
