The Doors, whose chemistry among the four members gradually made them one of America’s most influential rock bands, have captivated countless musicians and music fans since their formation in 1965. Tom DiCillo’s “When You’re Strange,” featuring rare footage from the band’s formation through Jim Morrison’s death in 1971, has been reimagined for the first time in 4K and released in theaters to commemorate the band’s 60th anniversary. Tracing the band’s history and highlighting the revolutionary impact of their music, the film won the Grammy Award for Best Music Video Feature at the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. Narrated by Johnny Depp, he commented, “There’s no documentary film like this one on rock, or any other genre. I’m honored to have been involved in this film.” The screening also includes a newly recorded performance of “Riders on the Storm” featuring special guests John Densmore, Robbie Krieger, and others! Additionally, never-before-seen footage from Jim Morrison’s 1969 short film “Highway: An America Pastoral” will be shown for the first time.
