I created this magnet while cherishing the scenery, the colors of the air, and the calmness of the time that passes there, all of which I take for granted as a local. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the charms of each region will be expressed in the magnets from other regions.

I paid particular attention to the colors and composition so that each design would evoke the clear air of Nagano and the tranquility of the mountains. I hope you can experience the atmosphere of my beloved Nagano
Prefecture. I am truly happy to have been able to participate in this project, which made me want to travel and experience the charms of various parts of Japan.

The process of thinking about how to express the local nature, the warmth of the people, and the peaceful time that flows there was a truly joyful experience. I’m truly grateful to have had the opportunity to be involved in such a wonderful project.

My soft, warm touch, while cherishing the texture of hand-drawn art, is what sets me apart. Drawing on my experience as a DTP designer, I create a wide range of works, including advertising visuals, postcards, logos, and shop cards. I receive many requests for cat-related work, and in addition to being featured in cat illustration books, I have also participated in numerous cat-related exhibitions. Tomita Mami Official Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mar_comami/ “Traveling Magnets”: A New Souvenir Based on Community Co-creation 1. Employing “local creators” active throughout Japan In addition to the standard tourist content found in travel guides, we actively incorporate illustrations that convey the unique local culture of each region, as only “local creators” know. Our designs are conscious of creating scenes that offer new discoveries and surprises and spark natural conversation.

illustrations by local creators, Minatomachi Ceramica Kobo in Onagawa Town, Miyagi Prefecture, produces 15cm square Spanish tiles. These tiles are then scanned and transformed into three-dimensional objects using PENON’s proprietary printing technology. This three-step process creates the “Traveling Magnets” that utilize the characteristics of Spanish tiles.

These sustainable materials were created with the aim of making the most of limited resources. The product packaging is made from recycled paper, and no plastic packaging is used. In addition, the store’s fixtures are made from recycled wood, demonstrating a thorough commitment to
environmental friendliness.
