They will support the event throughout the season, including the finals in April 2026. For the 2026 season, Mynavi DANCEALIVE will add a new genre, POPPING, to further liven up the street dance scene. Furthermore, for the Mynavi HIGH SCHOOL DANCE COMPETITION 2026 season, workshops will be held in the five regions of Kanto, Kansai, Tohoku, Chubu, and Kyushu, which were expanded from the qualifying tournament area last season. We aim to introduce a variety of content at each event, expanding the dance market and creating trends. ■What is “Mynavi DANCEALIVE” DANCE@LIVE, the world’s largest one-on-one street dance battle, was born in Japan in 2005. Dancers compete one-on-one, improvising one move at a time to music played by a DJ. Only the DJ knows the music, and the winner is the one who receives the most votes from the judges. DANCE@LIVE is divided into six categories, with preliminary and final rounds. The competition is divided into dance styles, with five styles – HOUSE, BREAKING, HIPHOP, ALL STYLES, and the newly established POPPING – making up the general division known as GENERAL. In addition, there is a KIDS division for junior high school students and younger, the All Styles Battle. Preliminaries are held in eight regions across the country – Hokkaido, Tohoku, Hokuriku, Kanto, Chubu, Kansai, Chugoku, and Kyushu – and competitors compete throughout the year to advance to the finals, which are held in April. Mynavi DANCEALIVE 2026 Official Website: https://dancealivejapan.com/ ■About the newly established POPPING genre In addition to the four existing genres of HOUSE, HIPHOP, BREAKING, and ALL STYLES, DANCEALIVE will now include POPPING in the GENERAL division, a total of five genres. POPPING will have four preliminary rounds, two in the Kanto region and two in the Kansai region, to determine the eight finalists. POPPING is a dance that involves using your muscles to play music, and dancers who specialize in it are called POPPERS. Many POPPERS have expressed a desire to dance to music specifically tailored for POPPING, in addition to dancing to a wide variety of music genres at ALL STYLES, and this has now become a reality.
