Press Release: October 30, 2025 Japanese Painter Isayama Hoju Solo Exhibition – The Joy of Honkadori – Tassel Hotel Sanjo Shirakawa Special Exhibition Tassel Hotel Sanjo Shirakawa (Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City), operated by Nishimatsu Real Estate Co., Ltd., a member of the Nishimatsu Construction Group, will be holding a solo exhibition of Japanese painter Takaki Isayama (Emi), a graduate of Kyoto City University of Arts, in the hotel’s first-floor lounge from Saturday, November 1, 2025, to Monday, November 24, 2025 (national holiday). The exhibition will include works paying homage to Kitagawa Utamaro’s ukiyo-e print “Girl Blowing a Poppen.”

Graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts, majoring in Japanese painting, and completed the same
university’s graduate program in conservation and restoration. While in graduate school, he worked at Toei Kyoto Studios, creating sliding screen paintings for various period dramas. After going independent, he dedicated works to numerous Kyoto temples and shrines, including the “Kuri sliding screen painting” at Jukoin Temple, a sub-temple of Daitokuji Temple; the “Ame-no-Uzume-no-Mikoto” (hanging scroll) at Tsubaki Grand Shrine; the “Dragon Painting (original design for shikishi)” at Kifune Shrine; and the “New Year’s Zodiac Sign (Year of the Ox) Large Ema” at Yasaka Shrine. He also served as the painter and Japanese painting instructor for the NHK morning drama “Scarlet,” broadcast in the second half of 2019. He is in charge of the costume portraits of Heian aristocrats for the 2024 NHK Taiga drama, and the original artwork for the poster of “Miyako Odori” in 2024. He is also in charge of Japanese painting instruction and set decoration for the “Bakeke” TV drama series, which will be broadcast in the latter half of 2025.
